Department Information
Started as Cardiology department since 1988 with a sanctioned strength of 40 beds generally divided into male and female wards. Catering 24/7 cardiac emergencies not only from whole Sahiwal division but also from adjoining districts of Punjab like Bhawalnagar, Vehari, Khanewal, T.T. Singh and Faisalabad.
An extension of the existing department is being erected behind and parallel to the existing block and connected via two ground corridors having dedicated wards for CCU, Echocardiography, ETT, General Wards, Consultant offices and Private rooms.
PC1 for an additional four story cardiology center with facilities of Adult and Pediatric Cardiac catheterization, Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery have been proposed in order to provide facility of percutaneous and surgical interventions not only for the people of Sahiwal division but also for those of the above mentioned adjoining areas.
Department Achievements
- The department of cardiology has been recognized for postgraduate training in MD Cardiology program of UHS in 2018 and has four PG trainees at the moment

Structured training of postgraduate students by regular conduction of academic activities like morning classes, case presentations, morbidity-mortality review committee, journal club meeting, curriculum committee meeting and research discussion with the trainees

Establishment of class room equipped with audio video system, internet and ambient air conditioning environment and provision of library to enhance learning activities

Conduct of the visit of Pakistan Medical Commission for recognition

Submission of PC-1 for establishment of cardiac center having facilities of Adult and Pediatric transcutaneous interventions and surgeries with an estimated cost of 180 Crores rupees
