Department of Radiology, Sahiwal Teaching Hospital/Sahiwal Medical College, Sahiwal aims at providing international standards of radiology and diagnostic imaging.
Department Achievements
- The department is equipped with state of the art 128 Slice GE Optima CT scanner

Approximately 3500-4000 Ultrasound studies are being performed monthly including all the color Doppler scans, ultrasound guided interventional procedures and round the clock emergency ultrasound facility

Radiology department is equipped with two digital, one conventional and three portable X-Ray machines

All the radiographic procedures including barium studies, IVU, urethrogram, sinogram, sialogram etc
- are being performed on state of the art Digital Fluoroscopy unit Optima DRF APELEM/ France

Educational Facilities
The department is actively involved in clinical research. Work on various research projects is in process. Currently , six research studies of faculty are going on in the department. Research work of FCPS/MD PG trainees is in addition to this. The department also encourages its faculty to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge and supports them in attending different medical symposia, seminars and workshops as part of their continuous medical education
Study Plan
Post graduate training program for FCPS, MCPS and MD radiology is operational since 2017. At present, 15 PG trainees are enrolled in the above mentioned post graduate training programs. The pioneer FCPS trainee Dr. Javeria Akhter has passed FCPS Radiology examination in 1st attempt in 2021 and now working as consultant radiologist in the same department. Department also delivers lectures to fourth year MBBS students of SLMC.
Future Vision
We are striving to create an environment that is conducive to learning, research and providing optimal imaging facilities to aid in patient’s diagnosis. We are committed to achieve international standards of diagnostic imaging. Nowadays, we are working for addition of 1.5 Tesla MRI, Digital Mammography with tomosynthesis, 64 Slice CT scanner for emergency department, three Color Doppler ultrasound machines, one portable ultrasound machines and one digital mobile X-Ray unit to strengthen the diagnostic
