Department Information
Urology Department was established in 1998 at DHQ Hospital Sahiwal. At that time the Department was providing basic Urological services to the local population.
Department was upgraded when DHQ Hospital converted into Sahiwal Teaching Hospital due to establishment of Sahiwal Medical College, Sahiwal in November 2010.
From 1998 till 2015 Urology Department was providing basic facilities and was running under district urologist, although it was attached to Sahiwal Medical College.

However, existing team of Urology under supervision of Dr Nisar Ahmad has made remarkable progress
- Under consistent leadership of, who has rendered invaluable services towards the development of the Department since 2015

Due to special interest and efforts of Head of Department, Endoscopic instruments of Urology like Resectoscope, Urethrotome, Stone punch, URS and Pediatric Urological set were purchased previously

State of the art ESWL medicine was installed and made functional 6 days a week since June 2021

Latest endoscopic instruments like laser, Flexible URS, Flexible Cystoscope, PCNL set and Urodynamics are in pipeline for Urology Department

Educational Facilities
Urology department is providing outpatient care three days a week, 24 hours emergency cover to surgical unit on call. All type of open and endoscopic urological procedures are done which include; TURP, TURBT, URS,VIU, Cystolitholapaxy, Urethroplasty, Vesicolithotomy, Ureterolithotomy, Pylolithotomy, Nephrolithotomy, Pyeloplasty, Simple and Radical Nephrectomy, PCN and Suprapubic Catheterization.
Urology Department of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital is the only public sector referral Hospital between Lahore and Multan.
Study Plan
Urology Department is teaching and training MBBS students, Post graduate residents, nurses and paramedics students.
The Department got accreditation from UHS and College of physicians and surgeons Pakistan in 2016.
Research culture is prevalent in department, regular clinical meetings, presentations and journal club meetings are major source of learning for students and trainees.
Future Vision
Urology Department is committed to serve the community of Sahiwal division.
Urology Department is looking forward to start the renal transplant at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Sahiwal in future.
